 II Díaz Peláez Abstract Art Hall to open next July 8

The II Díaz Peláez Abstract Art Hall will open next Saturday, July 8, with the 45 works selected from among the more than 150 artists who participated in the call for submissions, to be held at the Belkis Ayón Gallery of the Experimental Center for Visual Arts, located at 23 y C, in El Vedado, Havana.

According to Abenamar Bauta Delgado, curator of this exhibition space, the selected works were made on canvas, ink, acrylic, mixed techniques, monotype, cardboard, paper, cardboard and photography.

According to the specialist, the small and medium formats will allow the spectators to make an intimate and detailed evaluation, as well as a more precise exploration of the concepts and ideas exhibited.

«The artistic quality of the works on display is exceptional. Each artist has managed to capture their personal vision and style of abstraction, using a wide range of colors, textures and forms,» he noted.

Most of the participants belong to the Cuban Movement of Abstract Art (MAAC in Spanish), and in this second edition of the competition the provinces of Guantánamo, Camagüey, Havana and Santiago de Cuba are represented.

The Provincial Center of Plastic Arts and Design of Havana, the National Council of Plastic Arts, Collage Habana and the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS in Spanish) will also award prizes as part of the event.
