José Martí Sculpture Unveiled in Havana

A sculpture of Cuba’s National Hero, José Martí, was unveiled at the Havana Branch of the José Martí Cultural Society. The artwork serves as a tribute to the upcoming 98th anniversary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, to be commemorated on August 13.

The life-size sculpture, created by Antonio León Rodríguez, was presented by Yusuam Palacios Ortega, President of the José Martí Cultural Society in Havana.

The event was attended by members of the José Martí clubs of Havana, the José Martí Youth Movement, workers from the Union of Historians, the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), the Ministry of Energy and Mines, among others.

Local artists performed the first Cuban romantic song, «La Bayamesa,» along with other well-known Cuban compositions.

Finally, attendees toured the gallery, where an exhibition dedicated to Fidel Castro, titled Chronicle of Victory, is on display.
