Literary space for the presentation of the book Sara Gómez. Un cine diferente

The traditional Sábado del Libro space presents the book Sara Gómez. Un cine diferente, by the essayist, professor and researcher Olga García Yero, published by Ediciones ICAIC.
The poet Nancy Morejón will read the presentation, while the journalist and television director Octavio Fraga will moderate. This event will serve as a tribute to the talented filmmaker and screenwriter, as well as to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).

Sara Gómez is recognised as the first woman in Cuba to direct a feature-length fiction film: De cierta manera (1974). In the prologue, the essayist and journalist Reynaldo González said that the filmmaker’s documentaries did not stop at the lofty rhetoric of the social projects of the revolution, because she tried to live them cinematographically.
This exceptional filmmaker’s legacy lives on through her impactful documentary work. In her films, she not only highlighted differences but also championed the causes she believed in, staying true to her own unique style and consistency.
In addition to the presentation of the aforementioned book, the book De cierta manera. Guion by Sara Gómez and Tomás González will also be presented on Calle de Madera. This is the third book in the Guion collection published by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC).
