Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba Presents ¡Mil Niños en Escena…y Más! at the National Theater

Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba continues to amaze audiences this season with a diverse range of performances. On the weekend of June 21 and 22, the company will conclude the 2024–2025 academic year with a grand showcase titled ¡Mil Niños en Escena…y Más!, featuring the talented students from its vocational workshops, as well as members of the Children’s and Youth Ballet, at the National Theater of Cuba.
This year introduces an exciting new element—teased in recent social media posts from the company—resulting from a fruitful collaboration with renowned American choreographer Vincent Paterson. Earlier this year, Paterson visited the company’s headquarters in Old Havana, where he worked with the young dancers to rehearse iconic pieces such as Thriller, which he originally choreographed for the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The final segment of the show promises to uplift the audience with vibrant energy and a powerful sense of renewal. Now entering its third decade, this remarkable initiative led by Lizt Alfonso—who serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF—has involved over a thousand children and teenagers aged 6 to 16 throughout the years.
The end-of-year performances will showcase the progress made by the students during months of training in the vocational workshops. These workshops serve as a talent pool for the Children’s and Youth Ballets, as well as for the company’s Artistic-Teaching Unit.
Audiences can expect to enjoy choreographies created by professional company dancers, who also take on the role of instructors for these young performers. Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba invites you to celebrate talent and creativity at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater on Saturday, June 21, at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, June 22, at 5:00 p.m.
