Maestro Nelson Camacho celebrates 60 years of artistic life

Maestro Nelson Camacho will celebrate 60 years of artistic life with a recital at the National Museum of Fine Arts on Saturday 17th August at 7pm, which will also commemorate the stage where he made his debut in Havana as Ernesto Lecuona.

To mark the occasion, the renowned pianist will perform a two-part programme that will begin with his versions of anthological songs from the Cuban songbook, as well as others from the international repertoire that have accompanied him throughout his performances, such as Chabuca Granda’s La flor de la canela and George Gershwin’s Summertime.

A second moment will be dedicated to the renowned performer of Lecuona’s scores, with the participation of soprano Marta Cardona and tenor Bernardo Lichilín, as well as singers Lilian Ávila and Aramís Arcaute, according to the press office of the National Museum.

The eminent instrumentalist, who has given monthly concerts at the museum’s Sala Teatro for a decade and has been honoured on one of the institution’s anniversaries, will be introduced by actor Jorge Luis López.

This presentation could be his last concert programme, assuming he only performs regularly.
