National Museum of Fine Arts to Open New Exhibitions for the 15th Havana Biennial

On Saturday, November 16, the National Museum of Fine Arts will launch a series of new exhibitions across its temporary and permanent galleries, celebrating the 15th Havana Biennial. The day’s events will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Universal Art Building with a performance titled Negrociação by Brazilian artist Yhuri Cruz, a featured participant in this year’s Biennial.
Following the performance, two solo exhibitions will open at 3:00 p.m. in the Universal Art Building: one showcasing the work of French artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest and another by Brazilian artist Thiago Martins de Melo. Also debuting is a group exhibition titled La tradición se rompe, pero cuesta trabajo, spotlighting contemporary Caribbean women artists, as part of this significant international visual arts event.
At 5:00 p.m. in the Cuban Art Building, solo exhibitions by Cuban artists Rocío García, Glenda León, and Esterio Segura will be inaugurated, along with a collective exhibition, Los vaivenes de la historia. Mujeres abstractas de los 50.
In addition, a sound installation co-created by Cuban artist Wilfredo Prieto and Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco will be unveiled throughout the visitor circulation areas in both museum buildings, adding an immersive auditory dimension to the Biennial experience.
