Presentation of the Album Canción de luz/ Homenaje a Ángel Quintero

The Bis Music record label will present the album Canción de luz/ Homenaje a Ángel Quintero next Tuesday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m., at its headquarters on calle 21, entre E y F, in Havana’s Vedado district.

According to a press release from the Cuban Institute of Music, the CD features 11 songs by the songwriter-singer Ángel Quintero, performed by some of Cuba’s most distinguished voices in the contemporary music scene. The album was produced by Estudios Ojalá and is licensed by Bis Music for distribution in Cuba and abroad.

During the event, attendees will gain insight into the recording and production process of this notable album, featuring firsthand accounts from its creators and specialists, in a gathering expected to be filled with emotion and music.

With more than four decades of artistic dedication, Quintero was renowned for his relentless experimentation and incisive lyrics that captured and interpreted the essence of his country. His 2000 album Paisano stands out, offering deeply personal insights into the Cuban and broader Latin American diaspora, as highlighted by Prensa Latina following his passing.

Songs such as Solamente una ventana, Tumbao, and Corazón, corazón have become quintessential parts of the Cuban musical landscape of the 1980s. The continued presence of his music highlights the enduring vitality and relevance of his work.
