Quito and Havana: Two Capitals, World Cultural Heritage Sites Exhibition Opens

The exhibition, ‘Quito and Havana: Two Capitals, World Cultural Heritage Sites opened on Tuesday 9 September at the Oswaldo Guayasamín House Museum. The exhibition is part of a tribute to Dr Eusebio Leal Spengler on the 83rd anniversary of his birth.

It features 22 pieces by Ecuadorian artist Andrés Jiménez, who presents selections from his Quito series: Another Perspective, alongside urban landscape pieces by Cuban photographer Julio Larramendi. The exhibition invites viewers to embark on a visual journey and encourages them to reflect on cultural identity and the importance of preserving these heritage sites.

«The exhibition encourages visitors to discover cultural resonances, connect emotionally with the ties between past and present, and appreciate the living memory that unites us as Latin American peoples,» Jiménez told the Ecuadorian photography website Fotógrafos Ecuatorianos.

Organised by the Network of Offices of the Historian and Conservator of Cuba’s Heritage Cities, the exhibition will be open to the public for one month.
