Recital by Young Pianist Claudia Lastra at Bellas Artes

With an entirely Cuban music program, young pianist Claudia Lastra will perform this Saturday at the Teatro Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, where she will be joined by guest violinist Arianna Ochoa.

The recital, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., will include El disimulo, La nene, and La Quejosita by Manuel Saumell; Ante el Escorial by Ernesto Lecuona; and Juego de muchachos and Tarde en La Habana by José María Vitier.

The program also features Danzando entre puentes, Contradanza No. 2, Vals para Oshún, and Caribeña by Alejandro Falcón, as well as Pájaro carpintero by Aldo López-Gavilán Junco, among other pieces, according to CMBF, the National Classical Music Radio Station, via its Telegram channel.

Several highlights of the evening will showcase her in chamber performances alongside her contemporary, Arianna Ochoa, a member of the Ars Longa Early Music Ensemble. Ochoa has maintained a steady presence on concert stages and is known for her research work, holding a master’s degree.

Claudia Lastra, who has been recognized for her awards in national and international competitions since her formative years, and at the University of the Arts, where she graduated suma cum laude under the tutelage of Mercedes Estévez, is part of the new generation of pianists who have been making their mark in significant concert events.

Her performances stand out for the dedication she brings to tackling complex scores, covering a wide range of forms and styles that span contemporary music, as well as Cuban and universal piano literature.
