South African Music Enlivens the Havana Literary Festival

South African singer Unathi Msengana delivered an impressive performance at the National Museum of Music this Friday, as part of the 33rd Havana International Book Fair.
Performing on the stage of the Gisela Hernández Hall, Msengana was joined by Cuban pianist, composer, and violinist Laura María Valdivia de la Paz, along with other guest musicians.
In an Instagram post, Msengana shared, «I arrived in Cuba this week as part of South Africa’s first official literary delegation, and I am one of 15 authors who have been given the opportunity to lead workshops during our two-week stay here.»

She also expressed her gratitude, stating, «As an author, composer, and television producer, this is an honor I will never forget,» reflecting her emotions from the Friday afternoon performance at the Havana Museum.
The Havana International Book Fair is taking place from February 13 to 23, with South Africa serving as the guest country of honor. The fair will also pay tribute to Cuban writers Francisca López Civeira and Virgilio López Lemus.
During the event, the National Museum of Music will host book launches, as well as presentations of DVDs and documentaries, along with cultural gatherings where enchanting voices and melodies will take center stage in the coming days.
