Special meeting dedicated to the 105th anniversary of Benny Moré’s birth

To mark the 105th anniversary of his birth on 24 August, a meeting dedicated to Benny Moré was held in the Che Guevara Room of the Institute of Information and Social Communication.
The event brought together family members, colleagues and admirers of El Bárbaro del Ritmo to share anecdotes and highlight how his legacy is now an integral part of Cuban culture, as well as that of nations such as Mexico and Venezuela.
The Benny Moré Provincial Music and Entertainment Marketing Company and the Communications Department of Cuban Television made this exchange possible, which was also attended by representatives of the Cuban Music Institute, the Egrem record label, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, Icaic, and other cultural institutions.
During the ceremony, a number of musicians performed timeless songs with the unmistakable voice of Benny Moré, expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to take part in this important tribute.

The occasion was also used to pay tribute to workers with an outstanding career in the company, one of the organisers of the event.
Also known as «El Sonero Mayor de Cuba» and «El Príncipe del Mambo», Bartolomé Maximiliano Moré Gutiérrez (1919-1963) left his mark on all genres of Cuban music, although he was particularly prominent in son montuno, mambo and bolero.
