The New Latin American Cinema Foundation Proposes Summer Activities

The New Latin American Cinema Foundation (FNCL) has unveiled a series of film-related activities for families this summer season at its headquarters in Havana.
The foundation offers two daily sessions from Tuesday to Sunday. The morning session, called Children’s Carousel, caters to young audiences, while the afternoon session, Latin American Summer, is designed for those over 16 years old.

Katia Arias, FNCL’s Communications Director, told Radio Enciclopedia, «We have planned magic and clown shows for audience interaction in the Glauber Rocha Hall every Friday and Saturday at 11:00 AM. Another highly anticipated event is the screening of 3D films from Tuesday to Sunday in the Beatriz Palacios Hall.
New additions this summer include workshops on Introduction to Animation for children, led by filmmakers Irma Ávila Pietrasanta, Ivette Ávila Martín, and María Isabel Niebla Trocones. There will also be a film appreciation workshop for adults.
The FNCL headquarters, located at calle 212 esquina a 31, La Coronela neighborhood, La Lisa, has been incorporated into the heritage route of this Havana municipality. Visitors interested in guided tours of the area will have the opportunity to explore the former property of poet Flor Loynaz, the youngest daughter of the Loynaz del Castillo family.
The venue will also host the Los filos del dado event organized by the Hermanos Saíz Association. In line with its core mission, the FNCL will promote the history and works of the seventh art. This aligns with the efforts of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), which has designed the Let’s Go to the Cinema campaign for July and August.
These initiatives aim to provide diverse cultural experiences and promote Latin American cinema during the summer months, catering to various age groups and interests.
