Rutas y Andares 2023 with novelties and new editions proposed by the Cuban family

From July 4 to August 25, Rutas y Andares is back for Cuban families, with a variety of activities that invite them to spend a different summer in the Historic Center of Havana and other areas of the capital.
The Office of the Historian of the City of Havana (OHCH) will offer tours through museums, special tours, the Andares with tours, and the virtual tours, which were created as an alternative to personal visits and were originally designed for the elderly, will be maintained.
Among the novelties are the Water Tour and the Andar Hotels in Havana’s Prado promenade, which have been integrated thanks to the suggestions of families who participated in the previous edition, as well as the contributions of institutions, study centers, researchers and cultural personalities.
The first is a proposal of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources and has been designed for 17 locations, including the Baths of the Cathedral, the Callejón del Chorro, the House of Water and the hydraulic system of the Los Frailes Inn. The Andar Hoteles… is organized by the Centro de Investigaciones del Turismo.
This public program aimed at the Cuban family is nourished by socio-cultural research and is strengthened as a participatory communication strategy, said Katia Cardenas, Director of Cultural Management of the OHCHR, at a press conference.
She also referred to the Silence and Hope special itinerary, dedicated to the centenary of Servando Cabrera Moreno, which will include a visit to the collection of works held by the Office.
Also outstanding is The Art of Heritage Conservation, which offers the opportunity to enter the restoration offices for the first time, interact with specialists, learn about these practices and take home recommendations to conserve their personal heritage.
A special offer will be the reintroduction of the Martí’s Havana tours by car, departing from the Museum of the Apostle’s Birthplace, sponsored by San Cristóbal Travel Agency.
On August 25, the final day, the Rutas and Andares families will enjoy the Phantom of the Opera at the Teatro Martí.
This year’s program includes tea culture, artistic ceramics, a visit to the Castillo del Príncipe, shows at the amphitheater, the abstract painting of José Rosabal, the colonial defense system, summer workshops, children’s heritage guides, the We Are One children’s walk, and the Contigo somos + teenage walk, among others, all of which make up the program of this long-awaited and widely attended option that each year commemorates the legacy of historian Eusebio Leal.
Tickets for the Rutas will be on sale from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Municipal and Colonial Art Museums, the Palacio del Segundo Cabo and the Convent of San Francisco de Asís.
Tickets for the Special Rutas and the Andares will be sold at the point of departure.
