Young Violinists Showcase Their Talent in Concert

Surrounded by the legacy and ideals of José Martí, Cuba’s National Hero, students from violin instructor Augusto Diago’s studio at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory, accompanied on piano by Sunlay Almeida, delighted audiences with a concert entitled En la ruta de las musas, el andar virtuoso*.*

The performance took place at the José Martí Memorial, located in Havana’s Plaza de la Revolución, where the young musicians showcased the progress they have made in their early musical training. Their repertoire featured technically demanding works that highlighted both their individual talent and growing artistic maturity.

The five young violinists demonstrated remarkable dedication under the guidance of their teacher, Augusto Diago, revealing the skills they have developed through each lesson. Their performance reflected careful attention to musical phrasing, ensemble playing, and collaboration with the piano—an achievement made possible through the combined efforts of all their instructors throughout their third, fourth, and fifth years of study.

The concert concluded with the world premiere of Ronda, a composition by Professor Diago written especially for the occasion. The piece brought all the young performers together in a lively staged finale celebrating the rhythms and spirit of Cuban music.

Despite the rainy July afternoon, family members and friends gathered to enjoy an inspiring program that celebrated the beauty of music-making and the artistic growth of these promising young performers.
