Office of the Historian of Havana Dedicates Program to Eusebio Leal

The Cultural Program of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana for September is dedicated to Eusebio Leal Spengler, commemorating what would have been his 82nd birthday. As part of this tribute, there will be a presentation of his fifth book in the «Para no olvidar» series, a fitting homage to his legacy.
Published by Ediciones Boloña in 2001, this book is a graphic testament to the restoration efforts in the Historic Center of San Cristóbal de La Habana. It features photographs of fortresses, residences, and public spaces around the Plaza de Armas, Plaza de San Francisco, Plaza Vieja, Plaza del Cristo, and Plaza de la Catedral.
The program honoring this iconic figure in Cuban culture includes a range of events: the opening of the school year in classroom-museums, exhibitions, children’s activities, book presentations, a concert by Beatriz Márquez, and panel discussions.
On September 11, the anniversary of Leal’s birth, a special ceremony will be held at the City Museum, featuring the National Concert Band. The keynote address will be delivered by Abel Prieto Jiménez, president of Casa de las Américas. On this day, the fifth book of «Para no olvidar» and a special edition of the Opus Habana magazine will also be unveiled.
This program not only commemorates Eusebio Leal’s profound impact on the cultural and historical preservation of Havana but also celebrates his enduring influence through a series of educational and cultural activities.
