Desde la Tierra Workshop Nears Conclusion
The closing ceremony for the Desde la Tierra workshop is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m., in the Didactic Hall of the Cuban Art Building, according to the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba.
Aimed at the Museum’s community of older adults, the workshop fostered a series of activities focused on preserving their knowledge through dialogue-based sessions with artists, collaborators, and specialists from the Educational Department and other cultural institutions.
Crowning these efforts, an eponymous exhibition will showcase works created by individual participants using clay and other three-dimensional media.
The Desde la Tierra workshop will feature reinterpretations of classical vessels, sculptural reliefs, and masks—tangible evidence of a nine-month learning journey that united observation, art history, anthropology, and hands-on studio practice.
While celebrating the project’s completion, the exhibition also reflects the Museum’s commitment to “intergenerational education, accessibility to universal cultural heritage, and the recognition of ceramics as a fundamental artistic language for expressing identity and memory,” according to specialist Alexandra Álvarez Carvajal, who led the initiative.
