Creative Community Nave Oficio de Isla Announces New Season of Miguel Will

The Creative Community Nave Oficio de Isla is inviting audiences to a new season of the play Miguel Will, running from February through April on Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 p.m. The performances will take place at the Antiguos Almacenes de Depósito San José, on Avenida del Puerto and Cuba Street, in Old Havana’s Historic Center.

Written by Cuban‑Spanish playwright José Carlos Somoza, Miguel Will was first staged by Nave Oficio as a work in progress on October 10, 2025, under the direction of Osvaldo Doimeadiós and Pepe García. It now returns as a repertory production, showcasing the joint work of young performers alongside established company members, according to a post on the group’s Facebook page.

The company also announced that over the course of this extended run—which will include another eagerly awaited edition of the event Teatrales en La Nave at the end of March—they will present special performances on key cultural dates: Saturday, February 21 (International Mother Language Day), March 27 (World Theatre Day), and April 23 (World Book Day and the 410th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare).

In this way, the season pays tribute to language, theatre, and literature as bridges that, far from dividing, help connect and expand cultures, as exemplified by the universal legacy of Shakespeare and Cervantes.

The group also extends its thanks to all the institutions that have supported the production and this season, especially the Spanish Embassy and the British Embassy in Havana, for making it possible to “revisit Shakespearean and Cervantine legacies in Cuban theatre.”

Organizers note that tickets will be available at the box office one hour before each performance.
