Argentine writer Rosana Cesaroni to participate in Havana event

Argentine writer Rosana Cesaroni is returning to Cuba, this time for the 31st Havana International Book Fair, which is about to begin.

The correspondent of the digital newspaper Resumen Latinoamericano, who has worked as a teacher for more than 30 years, first came to the largest archipelago of the Antilles in 2007, participating in the Pedagogy Congress with several works on teaching, teacher training, and literacy.

Now she is back to present two books as part of the 31st edition of the Havana International Book Fair (FILH). They are Sucedió en La Habana (2019) and Amiga del malecón siempre (2022).

The first book was awarded the Sash of Honor of the Society of Writers of the Province of Buenos Aires. In the author’s own words, the book is a series of small tributes to great friends in Havana’s neighborhoods, where fictional stories are integrated into the experiences of real people.

Amiga del malecón siempre, on the other hand, is a testimony to the Malecón through poems inspired by images. As Cesaroni says in the book’s epilogue: «It is a testimony to the infinite beauty of this place, but it is also an excuse to talk about a revolution that continues to move forward because that is what the Cuban people want.»

In her work, Rosana has developed several projects to promote reading for children in the community, created and directed the radio program Amigos de Cuba, and made the documentary Berta, una vida de militancia, which tells the story of five Argentine teachers in the 1961 Literacy Campaign.
