Art and dance in the Rutas y Andares route

Art, architecture, dance and music are the main themes of many of the Rutas y Andares routes this summer, and this week the special routes dedicated to two important artists, Servando Cabrera Moreno and José Rosabal, continue.

El silencio y la esperanza, dedicated to the centenary of Servando’s birth, proposes this Tuesday a visit to the collection of works treasured by the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, displayed for the first time in the exhibition Una voz en la distancia, which can be seen at the Lombillo Palace.  The documentary La hora azul by Cuban filmmaker Claudio Peláez Sordo will also be screened.

This Wednesday, at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, the special itinerary Regreso a la pintura abstracta by José Rosabal will take the public on a tour of the concrete art of the 1950s and 1960s through a guided visit to this collection, led by specialist and curator Yahima Rodriguez.

On Thursday, Andar por la casa de los arquitectos y la arquitectura moderna de una zona de Nuevo Vedado invites you to take a stroll through a residential area dominated by modernist architecture, until you reach the building designed by architects Vicente Lanz and Margot del Pozo, which has been transformed into a socio-cultural project under the direction of Professor Juan García Prieto.

On this day, at the Casa del Vedado, the Andar virtual will offer the conference A look at the Republican furniture, which will be in charge of Javier de León Valdés, Master in Conservation of Cultural Heritage.

Meanwhile, the Andar para adolescentes Contigo somos +, will focus on inclusive animation, with a tour of the animation studios of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry -Icaic- to learn about the latest animated productions with sign language.

Walking through the artistic and literary Havana every Saturday is a tour of the city to explore scenarios rescued from memory that connect our time to exponents, works and spaces related to different artistic manifestations.

On Saturday, Danzándote Habana en trazos de mujer will take place, using dance as a pretext to link cultural centers and house museums through the narratives that the dances describe in their references to the chosen spaces. It will be an itinerary through the traces of women in audiovisuals, small lectures and live artistic shows in the garden of Las Carolinas, headquarters of Danza-Teatro Retazos.

According to the program, also that day, in the Amphitheater of the Historic Center of Havana, there will be the concert of Liuba María Hevia, and on Sunday, the show Como un príncipe enano by the company Habana Sueños.
