Caricato Awards 2022 to Acknowledge Artistic Performance on Digital Platforms

A total of 36 nominees are competing for the Caricato Awards 2022 in film, dubbing, radio, and television, both for adults and for children and young people, which will be announced on February 28 at the Villena Hall of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC, in its Spanish acronym).

This was announced this Monday at a press conference in which Francisco González, president of the Association of Performing Artists of the UNEAC, highlighted the acknowledgment on digital platforms due to the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has also had on the Cuban scene.

In film, Lola Amores, Laura de la Uz, Liliana Sosa, Andrea Doimeadios, José Luis Hidalgo, Luis Alberto García, and Héctor Suárez Noa stand out; in dubbing, Liuvar Losada, Giobertis Jiménez, Vicky Suárez, and Ulises and Alfredo González.

Malawy Capote, María Laura Germán, Yumié Rodríguez, Iván García, and Rigoberto Rufín are some of the members of the list of radio and television for children and adolescents.

During the exchange of ideas, the jury for each category of the competition was highlighted for its value and prestige. They received the works to be evaluated, among them El mundo de Nelsito, in the cinema category; El desafío de los Gobots, in the dubbing category; Buenos días Pelusín and Corazón Feliz, in the radio and television for children and young people, respectively; while for adults, Cinco pisos de armonía, in the radio program Novela cubana and the television series Calendario, broadcast by the Cubavisión channel.

On February 28, in addition to the announcement of the winners, circus arts and pantomime will be on display at the UNEAC’s Villena Hall, said actor Carlos Treto, coordinator of the Caricato Awards and head of the actors’ section of the UNEAC’s Association of Performing Artists, whose executive board is also working to develop the awards in 2024, in the on-site modality.
