Eastern Cuba to welcome more solidarity groups in 2023

During its annual evaluation assembly, the office of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in the city of Santiago de Cuba announced its intention of receiving a higher number of solidarity groups in 2023.

ICAP president Fernando Gonzalez, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, referred to the consolidated work of the local chapter and its highly active engagement and urged its staff to design their own projects and exploit all local historical sites and cultural attractions to arouse the interest of more solidarity delegations in the region.

Juan Carlos Vaillant, ICAP representative in this province, said that in 2022 they welcomed 280 visitors from 16 countries, grouped in the brigades First of May, Juan Rius Rivera (Puerto Rico), Calixto Garcia (Canada) and Ernesto Guevara (Spain), as well as the Camilo Cienfuegos Friendship Association and representatives of the Communist Party of the Iberian Peninsula. Likewise, there were meetings with 270 foreign students to talk about Cuban history and received graduates from Mozambique, in addition to the reception of medical donations from the Sweden-Cuba cooperation project.

ICAP’s provincial office also has virtual communication links with people in Italy, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Canada and Angola who organize actions in support of the Cuban Revolution.
