La magia de la danza at Cuba’s National Theater
Cuba’s National Ballet, under the direction of Viengsay Valdés, will present La magia de la danza at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater on May 8, 9, and 10, with all performances beginning at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are already on sale at the theatre box office from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
La magia de la danza is an anthology program that brings together highlights from classical ballets in the acclaimed versions by Alicia Alonso. The repertoire includes Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Don Quixote, and Swan Lake. The program concludes with the finale of Gottschalk Symphony, a tribute to Cuban-inspired symphonic music that blends popular dance with classical academic technique, according to the press department of Cuba’s National Ballet.
The lineup is led by the company’s principal figures: principal dancers Viengsay Valdés, Anette Delgado, Dani Hernández, Ányelo Montero, and Yankiel Vázquez; character principal dancer Ernesto Díaz; principal dancer Gabriela Druyet; soloists Laura Kamila and Alianed Moreno; as well as rising artists such as Carolina Estrada, Bertho Rivero, Nadila Estrada, Alejandro Alderete, Carolina Fonseca, and Roque Salvador.
