Nodo Habana to Host Discussion on Ernest Hemingway’s Life and Legacy

July is a significant month in the life and legacy of American author Ernest Hemingway. July 2 marks the anniversary of his death, while July 21 commemorates his birth. To mark the 65th anniversary of his passing and the centenary of the publication of his novel The Sun Also Rises, a discussion devoted to Hemingway’s life and work will be held in Havana.

The event, organized by Arte y Literatura Publishing House in collaboration with Nodo Habana and the El Marcador Reading Club, is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, at 10:30 a.m. local time at Nodo Habana, located at Malecón número 507, esquina a Lealtad, in Havana’s Centro Habana municipality.

The discussion will feature renowned Cuban journalist and essayist Ciro Bianchi Ross and Gladys Rodríguez, a specialist from the Ernest Hemingway House Museum in Cojímar. The speakers will explore key episodes in Hemingway’s life, the significance of his literary output, and the lasting impact of his work.

Participants will also be invited to share their impressions of The Sun Also Rises and will have the opportunity to acquire a digital edition of the novel.
