Sorolla in videos at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana

This Friday, March 8th, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana will inaugurate the temporary exhibition Los públicos de Sorolla in the Audiovisual Room of the Cuban Art Building at eleven in the morning. The exhibition is the result of the educational mediation work of the Museum’s Department of Educational Services.

Oramis López Cedeño, head of Education at the institution, explained that it is an animated audiovisual presentation with visual effects created by the young artist and specialist from the Department, Alexandra Álvarez Carvajal. It represents a new approach to bring the Cuban people closer to the creative production of the Spanish painter.

According to the specialist, this new space is part of a broad program organized by the museum, conceived as part of the international commemoration of the hundredth anniversary of the death of the Valencian artist Joaquín Sorolla.

Several activities precede this exhibition, such as the tenth edition of the Sentir el Arte con la comunidad de adultos mayores, the workshop for children and teenagers titled Verano con Sorolla, and the inauguration of the exhibition Joaquín Sorolla Bastida (1863-1923): las obras del Museo de La Habana en el centenario de su muerte

In recommending the upcoming exhibition on March 8th, López Cedeño emphasized that the potential of the video projector allows for a unique approach to Sorolla’s work and his artistic solutions. The technological era offers a range of possibilities in the experiential dialogue between the audience and art.

Los públicos de Sorolla will be on display until March 24th.
