Ten years of Post-it promoting contemporary Cuban Art

Post-it Contemporary Cuban Art is now in its first decade, and under the slogan ¡Re-presenta! it’s preparing a program that involves its protagonists, the young creators.
The organizing committee of the event, created under the auspices of the Havana Collage Art Galleries Division of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC in Spanish), assures that the purpose of this special edition is to rethink, relaunch and oxygenate.
Therefore, the proposed promotional activities seek to show the path taken by the competition as a space that brings together and gives visibility to many artists from different movements and generations.
The celebrations began with the May Romerias in the city of Holguín, in eastern Cuba, with the exhibition of the Post-it Archive, which brought together 27 works from the Collage Habana collection, acquired during these ten years according to the promotional strategies of the competition.
The event served as a link to discover areas of emerging creation in this part of the country and to connect them with the exhibition spaces of the FCBC, and basically to make the first call in the region.
In the western part of the country, a program is scheduled for June with the exchange of students from the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts and the University of the Arts of Cuba, as well as young creators from the provinces of Pinar del Río and Matanzas, in coordination with the Hermanos Saíz Association.
Another of the actions for these ten years will be a large collective exhibition of more than 60 artists who have won or participated in the competition during this period, which will be inaugurated at the end of July at the Estación Cultural of Línea y 18, in Havana.
The program will be complemented by a theoretical meeting, in which panels will deal with the latest Cuban production, as well as other spaces for dialogue and exchange with creators, critics, gallerists and curators who have been involved in the conception, organization or as members of the juries of the competition.
The tenth edition of the exhibition-competition will open next September, and the celebration will end in November with the Awards Gala, in which the winners will be announced.
The Post-it Contemporary Cuban Art Contest has ratified its transcendence as a platform for the promotion and legitimization of young art in Cuba.
