UNEAC Invites the Public to Caracol 2026
The Film, Radio and Television Association of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) invites the public to attend the sessions of Caracol, its flagship event, which this year will not include a competition and will be devoted exclusively to theoretical discussion.
The event will take place on September 22, 23 and 24 at the Sala Villena at the organization’s national headquarters, in 17 y H, El Vedado.
The program includes discussions on figures, events and processes related to Cuban audiovisual production. Topics include UNEAC’s 65th anniversary and its relationship with audiovisual events; the 40th anniversary of the Hermanos Saíz Association; the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth and his ties to cinema; as well as a panel on criticism and the criteria used to select the best programs broadcast by the country’s national television channels and radio stations.
The agenda also includes a look at the centenary of filmmaker Roberto Garriga, with the participation of artists and specialists whose work is connected to his career.
Caracol is the main gathering organized by UNEAC’s Film, Radio and Television Association and one of Cuba’s key forums for promoting, recognizing and discussing the country’s film, radio and television production.
Over the years, its calls have fostered exchanges among creators, critics and other media professionals, and have helped establish benchmarks for film, television and radio production in Cuba.
