6th Valencia Biennial chooses work by Cuban artist

The VI Biennial de València Ciutat Vella Oberta 2023 has selected one of the abstract works proposed by Cuban artist Abenamar Bauta, a senior specialist at the Belkis Ayón Gallery of the José Antonio Díaz Peláez Experimental Centre for Visual Arts, who is taking part in the event for the second time.

The multidisciplinary event, which will be open until 17 December, aims to promote the artistic panorama of the Valencian Community and the dialogues that exist within the artistic world itself, through exchanges with creators, cultural agents and art theorists.

Abenamar’s work, considered to be a renovator in the Cuban abstraction panorama, has contributed to the development of this expression in the country and is characterised by a connection with the environment and the use of expressive forms and vibrant colours.

His works have also been shown in exhibitions, fairs and biennials abroad, testifying to the revival of interest in abstract art on the island and the international recognition of this artist.
