Acosta Danza Promises Emotion with Carmen

Cuban company Acosta Danza has announced that it will take to the stage in the United Kingdom with one of the most significant works in its repertoire: Carmen.

Under the general direction of renowned dancer and choreographer Carlos Acosta, the company will perform from April 8 to May 9 in Richmond, Aylesbury, Manchester, Brighton, and Woking.

The production, choreographed by Acosta, “reimagines the myth of an untamed woman and blends different dance styles,” offering audiences the opportunity to appreciate the artistry and technical mastery of its performers.

According to the company, the work—based on a classic of the international dance canon—has won critical and audience acclaim in various countries since its premiere by the Royal Ballet in London in October 2015.

In Cuba, it premiered in April 2016 as part of Acosta Danza’s Première Season.

Since 2015, Carlos Acosta has led the company with passion, maintaining an intense international touring schedule while blending classical and contemporary styles with elements of Cuban dance.
