Cuba to Host 5th Patria Colloquium on Media and Technology
The Institute of Information and Social Communication announced that the Fifth Edition of the International Patria Colloquium will be held from the 16th through the 18th at the Línea y 18 Estación Cultural, bringing together communication specialists, journalists, and students to examine the impact of technology, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence on social media journalism.
Organizers said in a statement on the institution’s official Facebook page that around 150 international participants are expected, with 100 already confirmed, including delegations from Mexico and Russia.
The program includes parallel workshops led by leading experts, as well as morning and afternoon panel discussions on integrating communication practices with available technological tools.
A virtual format will allow communicators from other provinces to join the discussions and exchange experiences.
The event will also feature cultural activities, film screenings, and sessions showcasing the current state of communication in Cuba and abroad.
Additional sessions will examine private-sector experiences linked to the country’s evolving economic landscape.
A key highlight will be the inauguration of the Patria Project headquarters, conceived as a permanent platform for developing communication initiatives.
