Dancing Keeps Us Young, So We Return to Dance
Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba invites grandmothers and grandfathers to discover the transformative power of dance while reminiscing about some of the spectacular moments of their lives at the open gathering “Dance Has No Age.”
Designed especially for older adults, this project brings together art, health, and intergenerational interaction in a welcoming space open to everyone, free of charge.
On Tuesday, October 6, at 10:00 a.m., the main hall of Malecón Art 255 will once again host this heartwarming gathering, led by director, teacher, and choreographer Lizt Alfonso, together with LADC dancers and teachers, who bring their own energy and sensitivity to the experience.
For one hour, musical pieces that have marked eras and become part of life’s memories serve as a bridge to enjoyment and relaxation. The program is enriched with breathing exercises and routines designed to foster serenity, self-control, and the joy of dancing, singing, and listening to melodies by the sea, surrounded by friends who, in that moment, feel like family.
Participants are only advised to wear comfortable clothing and bring their own personal water bottles so they can make the most of this adventure, which was put on hold during the summer to protect the health of grandmothers and grandfathers.
Now a tradition, “Dance Has No Age” reaffirms Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba’s commitment to inclusion and the well-being of all generations—especially older adults—promoting respect and care through dance: the art that inspires us and brings us together.
