Heritage and Harmony Mark Egrem’s 62nd Anniversary
The release of two high-caliber productions—Feeling con canción: Homenaje a Pedro Vega and Nueva era, by Maraca y la Camerata Cortés—serves as a special tribute to Cuba’s oldest record label on its 62nd anniversary.
To mark the occasion, the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Egrem) unveiled both projects during a press gathering at the Salón de Mayo in Pabellón Cuba, along Havana’s La Rampa.
The album Nueva era, by Maraca y la Camerata Cortés, is a collaboration with Producciones Colibrí. Its liner notes were written by renowned flutist, composer, and educator Dr. José Loyola.
The recording signals a new chapter in the trajectory of the ensemble founded by José Luis Cortés—hence the album’s title—explained Orlando “Maraca” Valle. He added that the record brings together the work of this flute ensemble—unique in Cuba—from its beginnings to the present day.
For his part, Loyola expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the project and described what the album captures as something truly distinctive.
The making-of documentary for Nueva era, directed by Marah Góngora, will be available next week on digital platforms.
