In Concert, Winners of the I Roberto Ondina Memorial National Flute Competition

The National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba announces its upcoming performance with a special concert dedicated to the winners of the Roberto Ondina Memorial National Flute Competition for this 24th of March, at 11:00 am, in the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theatre of Cuba, under the baton of maestro Enrique Pérez Mesa.

During this performance, audiences will have the opportunity to listen to the laureates of the First Roberto Ondina Memorial National Flute Competition, which took place in Havana from the 11th to the 17th of December, 2023. Forty-one flutists and their teachers from across Cuba participated in the competition, becoming the protagonists of beautiful days at the National School of Art.

The competition was held under the auspices of Cuban cultural institutions and with the support of the Flute Center of New York, represented by its founder Phil Unger, Ethan Lin of Burkart Flutes, and Jim Phelan of Flute Makers of Australia. The incredible work of the judges Mindy Kaufman, Stephanie Jutt, and Zorime Caturla also contributed to its success.

The concert will feature the nine competition winners, accompanied by Zorimé Caturla and Niurka González, the main organizers of the competition.
