A Bridge to Havana celebrates its 12th edition

The 12th edition of A Bridge to Havana promises to be a great celebration of the capital of all Cubans, taking place from 26 to 28 April at Club 500 and the Monaco Cultural Centre.

As part of the celebrations of the 505th anniversary of the Villa of San Cristóbal de La Habana, this event will once again highlight the UNESCO Creative City in the category of music.

Club 500, located on Calle 12 in El Vedado, will host the first two days from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. During a press conference, it was revealed that on the 26th there will be a showcase of «more mixed music», according to Jorge Luis Robaina Martínez, also known as Jorgito Karamba, the artistic director, who said, «we will have more alternative music, Cuban pop-rock, which has such a quality». Jessy Yasmeen, an artist from the Netherlands, will open the event with an energetic performance, having accepted the invitation with enthusiasm. She will be followed by Cuban singer-songwriter Waldo Mendoza and then the group Karamba, who will present their latest album ‘Desde adentro’, recorded last year with Egrem. The final act will be Buena Fe.

On Saturday the 27th, the night will begin with the finalist of the Spanish television programme ‘La Voz’, Sevillian singer Carlos Torres, who is currently promoting his new single ‘Vivir y reír’, released by Ocean Music, and will also perform other songs from his repertoire. Next up will be two icons of Cuban popular dance music, Los Van Van and Alexander Abreu y Havana D’Primera.

Meanwhile, on Sunday 28th April, the «A Bridge to Havana» festival will open its doors to the public for the first time at the Monaco Cultural Centre in the capital’s Diez de Octubre district. Starting in August 2023, this space will host monthly concerts curated by Jorgito Karamba and 360 Productions SRL.

From 10am, children will be entertained by the show «La fiesta de Gatoypon«, performed by the young singer Annie Garcés, another new addition to the festival, aimed at an important audience segment. This will be followed by the screening of films for children on giant screens and performances by various DJs. Once again, Jessy Yasmeen and the Karamba musical group will perform, and Manolín, the «Doctor of Salsa», will close the festivities.

The Cuban record label and publisher Egrem and its artist representation agency Musicuba are organising this twelfth edition of ‘A Bridge to Havana’ in collaboration with 360 Productions SRL and the Plaza de la Revolución Culture Authority.
