Juan Marinello Institute Hosts Sixth Workshop on Youth Identities

The Juan Marinello Cuban Institute for Cultural Research (ICIC) hold the sixth edition of the workshop Identities, Cultures and Youth on May 12 and 13 at its headquarters in the capital.
The event will bring together specialists and researchers to analyze the processes through which identities are formed and transformed among adolescents and young people, through a series of thematic panels.
Topics for discussion include the thought of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, in shaping youth identity; social inequalities and vulnerabilities; comprehensive sexuality education with a gender perspective; cultural consumption and participation; as well as the challenges of inclusion for adolescents and young people with disabilities.
The workshop will also address emancipatory pedagogies in the formation of cultural identity, drawing on experiences from community projects, educational initiatives, and practices of social inclusion in cultural and academic institutions.
The program features contributions from specialists affiliated with the University of Havana and the University of Oriente, the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Casa de las Américas, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center, among other institutions.
